TWO NEW CLASSES at
CROOKED TREE ART CENTER, Traverse City

Drawing: Exploring Large Scale with Royce Deans
 Session 2: February 20, 27. March 6, 13,  2019
Wednesdays 1 to 4pm
at Crooked Tree Art Center, Traverse City
Contact CTAC to register or click here.

Drawing is at the core of all that we do as artists no matter if we are painters, sculptors, print makers, fiber or jewelry artists. In this class, we will dig deep into what we can learn by working on very large drawings of still life objects as well as figures. By working and reworking the same drawing for the entire length of each class period we will discover many new things as we change the scale of our marks as well as the relationship that evolves when working on 6 foot pieces of paper. Each week you will be encouraged to work on smaller drawings inspired by the large pieces created in class. We will discuss and critique the smaller drawings each week. Tuition includes model fee for two classes and materials used in class

Figure Drawing: Study Figurative Work of Matisse
 Session 2: February 20, 27. March 6, 13,  2019
Wednesdays 6 to 9pm
at Crooked Tree Art Center, Traverse City
Contact CTAC to register or click here.

We will study of the figurative work of Henri Matisse, his drawings, paintings and paper cuts. We will look at his compositions, his use of color, motifs that he employed, and of course, how he approached the figure. Each class period we will look at and discuss a different, yet specific series of art, by Matisse. This class will push the student to create their own interpretation of an interior setting similar to what Matisse would have worked from. Model fees and some art supplies included in tuition.
