wwworkshops

We are two professional artists, one from Europe, one from the US together we have developed workshops for all ages that are designed to give an exciting and fun experience while teaching skills and exploring the creative being that is in all of us.

Tali Farchi from the Netherlands, creator and founder of the multi-media, multi-disciplinary show Mo(ve)ment that was shown in Windsor last summer. She is a graduate of the art academy in Amsterdam and has been an animator/painter/illustrator since 1986.

Royce Deans living currently in Michigan graduated in 1983 from the American Academy of Art in Chicago. Since that time, this painter/designer/journalist/record producer has been working in the art world.

While the workshops we present work well with all ages, we would like to propose three different workshops that would work well in the setting of the Kids Fringe.

The  Mo(ve)ment Painting with Music Workshop, is all about using emotions and motor skills to paint. It is about being open to the rhythms and sounds  around us and letting them affect the way the paint is laid down on the paper. In this workshop what you paint or even how you paint it is really not important. The experience is the center. not the result.  The workshop also is NOT about drawing nice. In reality this unique workshop is about working In the flow. By using  music as a channeling device for your painting, participants use  emotions  and impressions to move and  create.

Working with the flow is an abstract concept that is difficult at best to try and explain much less get someone to experience for themselves, but Tali's open style and approach allows participants to lower those walls that are holding most of us back. For this reason this workshop is wonderful for not only all ages, but also all levels of artistic accomplishments. Artists and musicians both who have participated have commented on how liberated they have felt after wards. Young people particularly enjoy the  open exchange with adults that are able to be kids as well.

The set up for the workshop is quite simple. A couple of long tables are needed and they are covered by long sheets of paper from a roll. We create one work space for everyone and yet they all work individually .

(Picasso, Mondrian, Pollack, Modigliani, and Warhol) Each one of these workshops will focus on one of these artists. Examples of their work are shown and discussed. And from this point everyone will be given paints and brushes and helped through the process of painting in the style of a famous painter.  Self Portraits from Your Memory Workshop

In this workshop participants will learn the basic structure and proportions of a face and how to draw one. Everyone will take a moment to think about what they look like and what some of their interests are. From here they will create a self-portrait without looking in the mirror, but from their own personal perceptions and recollections of how they look, as well they will be encouraged to include activities and objects that they are interested in or identify with.

Everyone will have a self portrait to take with them.
